There are a number of ways in which you can locate business opportunities:
- The more traditional method of finding businesses to invest in through referrals through your banker, layer, accountant or through known business and personal associates. As angels tend to invest in local businesses
(usually not more than a days travel from where they stay), networking in the business community will help in being introduced to entrepreneurs looking for funding.
- In a number of countries, Business Angel Networks operate locally to bring innovative companies in contact with business angels. In most cases, local or regional innovation agencies, research centers, and in some cases even
commercial banks, are involved. This has improved the efficiency of the investor's search for investment opportunities and the entrepreneur's search for capital. Some of the networks can also provide help in raising finance
from other sources and in preparing a business plan for a fee. In general, less than 10% of the investment opportunities that networks circulate to their investors each year find funding.
